Have a Dream ON the soccer field.
Do you dream of playing college soccer? Or playing professional soccer?
Great soccer players dream about playing at high levels, but how can one become one of these players? How is it that players smaller than you are better forwards than you? How is it that they still manage to score goals, while you miss them?
Becoming a great player is not rocket science.
Start by having a clear idea of how you want to see yourself play on the soccer field.
If you dream about being the best forward America has ever seen, picture yourself as that player.
Then look inwards and try to understand your strengths and weaknesses.
Some strengths can be that you are fast, you have good endurance, and you can shoot pretty well. Some weaknesses can be your lack in ball control, passing ability and vision.
Next you pay the price to turn your weaknesses into strengths.
Practice your weaknesses as often as possible. Make yourself comfortable being uncomfortable. Practice dribbling up and down cones thousands of times. Practice passing and crossing drills with a friend or coach thousands of times. You can become the player you dream to be if you work for it.
Keep in mind a dream without a plan is only a dream.
Have a Dream OFF the soccer field.
Over the years if you practice a lot you can become a great soccer player. Unfortunately we can’t be young forever. When your level of soccer drops to a less competitive level, it is wise to have a dream off the soccer field. Dreams such as, getting a college degree, becoming a soccer coach or even owning a business.
It is always good to have a backup plan on and off the soccer field.
Dream big, think about it a lot, make plans with goals and little by little to direct yourself closer to your dreams.
